Co-op Related Questions
The Winter 2021 term is scheduled to begin January 18, 2021 but the Co-op work terms are scheduled to start January 4, 2021. However, the Co-op office may be able to negotiate earlier or later start dates for co-op work terms if needed, working on a case-by-case basis with students and employers. If you are currently seeking a Winter 2021 co-op term, please continue to search for jobs on HireCentennial and continue to search for positions on your own as well.
Yes. We are planning for winter co-op terms. We have a designated Job Developer whose focus is sourcing new co-op positions for students, working with existing and new employer partners.
We are encouraging co-op students to remain in the co-op program, continue your job search, and submit applications until the end of the term. The Co-op office is still sourcing work terms and considering later start dates to allow students to participate in co-op. The period for starting the term may be extended which will give employers more time to post positions and make decisions. The labour market is changing regularly and many employers will be hiring as usual in the winter semester.
We are reviewing requests to defer work term on a case-by-case basis and this is dependent on your model route. Please contact your Co-op Advisor first to discuss if a change in model route is an option for your program. If you are an international student, we will engage our International Department in any discussions around immigration implications.
