Summer Semester Program Postponement
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to challenge all of us to change the way we interact and organize our lives. It has also meant coming together as a community and rethinking how we do things. The directives from public health officials to maintain physical distancing continues, as do the current travel restrictions worldwide.
With the College closure continuing and all summer programming to be delivered online, your program semester has been postponed until the fall 2020 term. Your program semester requires the demonstration of hands-on learning that cannot be virtualized or assessed using online strategies and will be rescheduled to begin the week of September 8, 2020.
We regret that we have had to do this, but we are hopeful that our campuses will be open and that you will be back in class in September, pending the resolution of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yes, communications and general education courses can be taken during the summer semester.

There may be part-time, online options available to you to continue your learning. For more information on part-time and online options, contact your Success Advisor or Part-time Learning.
If your full course load is not a minimum of 60% of your model route, or 40% for students with disabilities, you will not be eligible for OSAP funding for the summer semester.

On April 22, the government announced the Canada Emergency Student Benefit for students who are struggling financially because of the pandemic.
Eligible postsecondary students will receive $1,250 a month from May through August, while those who have dependents or are caring for someone with a disability will receive $1,750 monthly. Working students earning less than $1,000/month may also apply.
The benefit recognizes that the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in few summer jobs for students, and few hours for students and those who graduated in December 2019. Payments will be made through the Canada Revenue Agency.

You may need to extend your study permit if you are unable to complete your program before it expires. If your permit is expiring in the next three to four months, please contact our International Student Advisors or write to sage@centennialcollege.ca.
Your academic school can confirm whether this is a scheduled/official break or not. If you have questions regarding potential implications on your off-campus work and post-graduation work permit, please contact our International Student Advisors or write to sage@centennialcollege.ca.
Your current health insurance policy provided by guard.me should not expire until the end of August 2020, and your coverage will continue until the expiry date. If you do not have your policy number or it expires before the end of August 2020, contact sage@centennialcollege.ca.

The tuition deposit deadline for Summer 2020 was May 4, 2020. Students can still enroll in available programs and pay tuition fees up until June 1 via myCentennial, by telephone at 416-289-5300 or through your Canadian Bank (allow 5 business days to process the transfer).
Tuition Payment Flexibility
Students do not need to abandon their Centennial College application due to the challenges of personal finances during the pandemic. The College understands the financial impact that COVID-19 is having on students and is therefore offering flexible payment options.
Domestic Students
1. If you are not able to afford your tuition deposit, you may:
- Request Centennial waive your tuition deposit so that you may register in your courses
2. If you are not able to afford to pay the balance of your fees by your due date, you may:
- Request a Tuition Fee Payment Plan
Please note, if you have not already done so, you may apply for Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) assistance. If you are a recipient of OSAP assistance, Centennial will automatically defer your full tuition fees deadline until the Ministry electronically remits fees to Centennial on your behalf for your tuition balance.
International Students
- If you are not able to access your tuition to make full payments due to COVID -19 related issues you may be eligible for emergency consideration for a promissory note with payment options.

Yes, the Ministry requires institutions to revise the summer 2020 semester study period start date for OSAP from May 4 to May 25, which will delay the release of funding and will result in two weeks of reduced funding for the Summer term. Due to the complexity of the OSAP assessment rules Student Financial Services is unable to gauge dollar amounts until the work is done.
