A special message from Toronto Mayor John Tory
Many of us are breathing a collective sigh of relief after saying goodbye to 2020, but we know, particularly after Tuesday’s announcement, that significant challenges lie ahead. COVID-19 case counts continue to grow during this winter season and it is incumbent upon us all to do our bit to diminish the curve and ease the strain on our health-care system.
At the same time, I, for one, am keeping very positive. I am heartened by the prospects of the coming spring. COVID-19 vaccines are now being administered and vaccinations promise to ramp up quickly. This will hopefully result in the opening up of our markets and classrooms again to international, as well as domestic, students and very slowly and gradually allow for greater campus activity, all of course subject to Toronto Public Health guidelines and advice.
I’m especially thrilled to share this brief video presented by His Worship, Toronto Mayor John Tory. This message was sent to us as part of a formal request to his office to provide an endorsement of Centennial for use in our own New Year’s message. What we received in return was considerably more. His thoughtful words are a heartfelt testimonial to our community spirit, acknowledging that our role as a learning institution is “important to the well-being of our entire city and its residents.”
I find the Mayor’s special message to us to be enormously gratifying and uplifting, especially at this juncture.
Please enjoy. And welcome back!
