All students who have applied to graduate from the Summer 2019, Fall 2019 and Winter 2020 semesters will be part of the June 2020 Virtual Ceremony. This includes graduates who have had their student record cleared to graduate (met all program requirements) and all graduates who are considered a potential graduate (students who may still have some outstanding requirements to complete). .
Generally speaking, graduates from these semesters who did not apply to graduate by the April 13, 2020 application deadline may not be included (and won’t have a graduate slide) in the Virtual Convocation Ceremony. Note: We have processed and included applications received up until May 19, 2020.
No. Official graduation status is confirmed on your student record. Students (potential graduates) can check their status in the “Student Record” area of myCentennial by running a “Degree Audit”. The Degree Audit will tell you if you have met all the requirements of your program or if there are outstanding requirements. You can also view your status on your unofficial transcript.
You can still apply to graduate by completing the application to graduate via myCentennial. Your student record will still be reviewed and processed, and you will receive your parchment and official transcript. You will also be invited to the in-person celebration for the class of 2020 that the College will host sometime in 2021. Unfortunately, you will not have a graduate slide in the Virtual Ceremony. Note: we have processed and included applications received up until May 19, 2020.
All graduates and potential graduates who have applied to graduate by the deadline are automatically included in the Virtual Convocation. Each graduate will have a graduate slide created with their name and program listed, as well as honours status if earned.
- Graduates are invited to add their photograph to their Graduate Slide from May 25, 2020, up until June 12, 2020.
- Graduates can record the pronunciation of their name for their Graduate Slide from May 25, 2020, up until June 10, 2020.
Instructions on how to upload a photo and record name pronunciation will be sent to graduates who have applied to graduate. Watch your myCentennial email for a message from virtualconvocation@centennialcollege.ca the week of May 25, 2020. Please check the “Junk” folder if the email did not arrive.
Summer 2019 and Fall 2019 graduates would have already received their parchments approximately eight weeks following the end of their final semester. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all staff continue to work remotely. Winter 2020 graduates will receive their parchments by mail once staff can safely return to campus to produce the documents.
Please ensure that your student record reflects your permanent address and all contact information, as that is where we will mail your diploma, degree or certificate. You can update your information in the Personal Information section on myCentennial.
We will send a survey to all graduates via their myCentennial email in July 2020 to gather your input/feedback on what you think an in-person celebration should include.
The Centennial College Student Association Inc. (CCSAI) will offer several opportunities for formal graduate photo sessions once the Declaration of Emergency is lifted and we can resume normal business on campus.
